Non-branded clicks up 56.6% and conversions up 35.9%

A St. Paul and Minneapolis mover had suburb pages buried on page ten and local schema that was silently broken. Six months of technical fixes, new service and suburb pages and proper tracking grew both searches and booked enquiries.

The starting point

Suburb searches like "local movers roseville" sat around position 96, and service pages leaned on the homepage instead of ranking on their own.

A plugin setting had emptied the business address in the site's LocalBusiness schema sitewide, and the ZIP code didn't match the Business Profile. Traffic from the Business Profile was hidden inside other channels, so nobody could see what it was worth.

What we did

  1. Repaired the local schema

Found the RankMath multiple-locations setting that emptied the address and fixed the ZIP mismatch, both prerequisites for local eligibility.

  2. Cleaned up the technical base

Replaced old http image links, cleared legacy CDN references and sorted 151 deep pages by priority.

  3. Built service and suburb pages

Pages for appliance, art and antique, packing and exercise equipment moving, plus Woodbury and Bloomington area pages.

  4. Added internal links by hand

Programmatic linking didn't reach the page builder's content, so links were added manually and the limit was documented.

  5. Made Business Profile traffic measurable

UTM tags on the profile link revealed it drives 19% of all site conversions.

  6. Reported honestly

All 1,399 query rows pulled and split into branded and non-branded before any claim was made.

What's still open

Rankings for big head terms like "moving company" are held but click-through is about 0.4%, so title and description rewrites are next. Several first-place suburb rankings get few clicks because the map pack takes them. Conversions here are GA4 key events; no revenue is claimed.

How this was measured

Search Console URL-prefix property and GA4, comparing March 17 to September 13, 2026 with September 17, 2025 to March 16, 2026.
