The starting point

The business ranked well for fireplace store searches but sat in the Maps top 3 on only 5% of the city for "chimney cleaning" and 10% for "chimney repair", its most valuable service terms.

The July 27 audit found 16 pages with no H1 heading, no business or service schema anywhere on the site, and the Business Profile still linking to the old http version of the homepage.

What we did

  1. Gave every service page one clear H1

16 pages had no main heading. Each got one H1 naming the service and city.

  2. Rebuilt the chimney pages

The cleaning and sweep pages were merged into one, and new chimney repair and chimney cap pages went live, each with a consistent template: key takeaways, warning signs, process, cost, FAQ.

  3. Added schema to 24 pages

A business entity on 24 pages, with Service and FAQ markup on 17.

  4. Fixed the profile link

The Business Profile website moved from http to https. The old http homepage row in Search Console fell from 1,195 impressions to zero.

  5. Rewrote titles that ranked but didn't get clicks

Pages ranking 2nd to 4th with no clicks got new titles and descriptions. Click-through doubled on the same impressions.

  6. Installed GA4

So the next phase can report calls and form leads, not only rankings.

What's still open

Not everything went up. The "wood stove store" term fell from 86% to 21% top-3 coverage as a competitor took first place, spam backlinks grew from 386 to 1,016 referring domains and need a disavow decision, and only three new reviews came in during the nine weeks. Those are the next priorities.

How this was measured

Local Dominator geo-grid, 10 keywords, 133 pins at 1,609 m spacing, same settings and centre on both dates. Search Console compared two equal 28-day windows (July 1 to 28 and September 2 to 29, 2026). Google ran spam updates inside this window, so part of any movement may be algorithmic.

This work was led by Carlito Luaton, founder of Map Peak Digital. It's the same process our local SEO services follows.
