The starting point

The firm moved its site from a hosted page builder to WordPress on a new hostname, which created a new Search Console property with no history.

The old homepage had six competing H1 headings and 618 words, and the services hub had no H1, no structured data and a 356-character description copied from the homepage.

What we did

  1. Technical foundation

Canonical tags sitewide, a www and non-www redirect, a robots.txt fix at the CDN and 14 orphaned URLs resolved.

  2. Keyword map

50 terms with 68,730 combined monthly searches mapped across 11 pages, with cannibalisation between the homepage, services hub and contact page resolved.

  3. On-page rebuild

New titles, descriptions and one H1 per template; homepage copy grew 133% and its headings were restructured.

  4. Structured data

Service and ItemList schema on seven templates, FAQ schema and Person schema tying the CEO to blog authorship.

  5. Core Web Vitals

Isolated 1,350 ms of LCP delay from a background image and 760 ms of render-blocking resources.

  6. Verified live

Every fix confirmed with a server request after clearing caches, not in the editor preview.

What's still open

92.5% of clicks went to one consumer how-to article, which is useful traffic but not B2B buyers, and average position slipped from 6.5 to 9.5 over the period. GA4 also recorded zero conversion events, which we flagged as the first fix in the handover.

How this was measured

Search Console for the new WordPress property (April 13 to September 13, 2026) and Internet Archive captures of the old site from March 2, 2026 for the before markup.

This work was led by Carlito Luaton, founder of Map Peak Digital. It's the same process our contractor website design follows.
