Case study

A lead finder that audits and drafts while we sleep

We built this n8n workflow for our own business. Every morning it finds local businesses on Google Maps, checks their websites, scores each one and drafts a short pitch for the best ten. Nothing is sent until a person reads it.

The starting point

Finding local businesses that need SEO help took hours: searching Google Maps, opening each website, checking the basics and writing an email. Most of that is the same checklist every time, which is exactly what automation is for.

What we did

  1. Pick and find

At 7 AM the workflow reads its settings and a search plan, picks today's searches and pulls local businesses from Google Maps through SerpApi, skipping closed businesses, chains and ones it has already seen.

  2. Audit and score, with no AI

For each business with a website it checks HTTPS, title, meta description, H1, mobile viewport, LocalBusiness schema, copyright year, contact page and PageSpeed mobile score, then scores the lead from 0 to 100: hot, warm or cold.

  3. Draft pitches, never send

For the top 10 hot leads, Claude Haiku writes a 100 to 140 word pitch naming real issues on their site. Each one is saved as a Gmail draft with an opt-out line and postal address, as US email law requires.

  4. Save, digest and log

Every lead goes into a Google Sheet, a daily summary is emailed, today's searches are marked done and the run's usage and cost are logged.

What's still open

This is a workflow we run for ourselves, not a client result yet. It's here to show how we build: rule-based checks where rules work, AI only for the writing, and a person approving anything a customer will see.
